Below you'll find some frequently asked questions, but please reach out if you don't see the answer you're looking for in the items below. We're here for you.

Job site specifics

Do I need to have electricity available at the job site?

No. While it is helpful in the construction of your project, our crew is equipped with a generator. There will be an additional charge for use of our generator. We would strongly encourage you to at least have some type of temporary power available.

Do I have to have a level building site?

No. It's not necessary for your site to be perfectly level to construct a post frame building. However, it's in your best interest that the site be slightly higher and as level as possible to allow for proper drainage and the need for additional splashboards to be installed.

Will my project require a building permit?

Maybe. Depending upon your local city or county guidelines, you may be required to obtain a building permit. It's your responsibility to obtain any required permits if applicable. Our salesperson can provide additional information regarding permits.

What size posts do you use?

We typically use a .6 cca treated 6×6 post in most of our construction. However, depending upon building specifications, building code requirements, or by customer request, we will use an engineered laminated column. Columns or posts can either be embedded in ground or anchored to a concrete floor/footing.

What if you hit my underground utilities while digging post holes?

Often times despite our best efforts and notification of Missouri One Call, utility lines are hit and damaged. Bilt-Rite Buildings is not liable for the repair of damaged utilities.

Costs and payments

Will there be an additional cost if you hit rock while digging post holes?

Yes. If there is a chance that rock may be encountered while digging post holes we will outline a “rock clause” in your building contract. Additional labor costs plus equipment rental costs will be charged.

Does your company offer financing?

No. Unfortunately we do not have in-house financing.

What are your payment terms?

We generally require a 10% down payment when your contract is signed, with the balance due upon completion of the project. In some cases we may require an larger down payment and/or progress payments. Payment terms are detailed on your contract.

Can you build a "turn key" building for me?

Yes. We can sub-contract excavation, concrete work and other trades if required. In order for us to oversee this work there will be an additional “sub-contract fee” collected. Our salesperson can explain our policies in more detail.

Additional information

Can I put a concrete floor in my building once it's constructed?

We can sub-contract excavation, concrete work and other trades if required. See above for subcontracting details.

Do you construct other types of buildings besides pole barns?

Yes. We can build post frame or stud frame construction depending upon the needs of the customer and use of the building. While most of our buildings have metal roofing and siding, we can sub-contract other trades to install asphalt roofing and different types of siding materials.

Can you build me an all steel building?

No. We are primarily a wood frame builder.
